FULL REVIEW:

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth, the author of the bestselling series Divergent, is a YA Science Fiction book about a world where fates dictate the fate-favored's life, and everyone is given a current-gift from the current, which is the life blood of the galaxy. Most of the book takes place on a cold planet called Thuhve, where 2 nations, Thuhve and Shotet, hold dangerous relationships. The two main characters are Cyra Noavek, the sister of the ruling tyrant Ryzek fated to fall, and Akos Kereseth, the son of the oracle of Thuhve. Akos is captured by Shotet soldiers since his fate and his brother's were announced to the world. His fate is to serve the family Noavek, and his brother's fate brings the most danger. Akos is dead set on getting his brother out, and a failed escape attempt causes Ryzek to use his current gift, taking one's memories and replacing them with his own, on Eijeh, so he is no longer himself, but Ryzek. Ako's current gift allows him to be immune to the current, causing him to be able to relieve Cyra's gift, which gives her pain and power that is exploited by her brother, and also lives with her.

Their relationship, to say the least, decides the fate of the galaxy and planet.

Personally, I'd give this book 4.0 stars, since it was slightly misleading at points, causing me to reread several bits. For example, they tell us Akos' current-gift once, but reference

it several times. So, if you missed it, you read in confusion. However the character development, even for more minor characters, treats you to a magical experience, and I still recommend you read this.

I think one is also teens and up, since violence and the romantic elements.
